To follow The Way Tour, google search #thewaytour2022

The Way Tour is a 2400km bike ride from Budapest to London. Some think that’s an amazing feat. It isn’t, a brief internet search reveals that 1000s of others are accomplishing such goals every year. But for me, it will assuredly be a massive physical and personal challenge.

The primary purpose of the tour is to promote the ministry of the Gospel in Europe and to all nations.

Although Europe is largely secular, there is spiritual renewal happening throughout Europe in many places. Europe is a complex continent. It is post Christian and needs Gospel proclamation. It is a place of much valuable ministry to refugees. It is also a place ready to send out many new cross-cultural workers to other parts of the earth.

In moving across these countries, we will seek to promote and encourage all these aspects. We will prepare daily media, interview people, share our faith, encourage others along the route. Interviews will be of those serving Christ in Europe but also of those who are part of secular Europe. Blogging this on relevant social media will help bring attention to these needs. It will also however challenge others to follow Christ more genuinely.

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news . . . who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!

Isaiah 52:7

As we cycle from town to town across 9 nations, we will be stopping with fellow workers who are involved in various ministries. Some helping refugees, some starting churches and some preparing others for cross cultural work. There are so many good people, faithfully serving others Christ in humility. We will also be camping and interviewing people we meet about their own faith journey. Hoping to listen to their stories, and what they think about ‘Christ’.

A second purpose is to bring attention to the needs of refugees. We are aiming to raise funds for two projects that are helping refugees:

Vienna Mosaik is a place of welcome where people of all cultures can come together to learn, share and express their creativity through activities in Music, Art, Drama, Creative Writing, Language Learning and Well-being.
Vienna Mosaik is a new project of International Teams Austria, who aims to encourage connection between people of all cultures living in Vienna and help facilitate integration of refugees and foreigners into the community. They offer holistic care through practical, emotional and spiritual support in this city of just under 2 million people, where 35% of the residents were born abroad and some 50% of the population have a migrant background. https://www.iteams.at/english/teams/

Sydney Refugee Team, https://sydneyrefugeeteam.org.au/, share the hope, love and truth of Jesus with people seeking asylum and refuge. We demonstrate God’s character through building genuine relationships and offering physical, emotional, social and spiritual support. In this we help equip and empower people to settle into a new culture. We seek to engage and equip the local church in doing the same.

You can support these ministries here. through WEC Hope. WEC Hope’s purpose is an arm of WEC Australia that can help or benefit individuals, families and communities in need of relief of poverty, sickness, suffering, distress, misfortune, disability or helplessness, including in particular refugees, asylum seekers and immigrants.

I myself have worked with WEC International for 26 years, my wife Denise and I originally served in Cote d’Ivoire. Presently we are the Membership Department Coordinators for WEC International in Sydney, Australia.

Our schedule is below, if you are on the route let us know, we would love to drop in. We could even interview you!
